Cresskill

CRESSKILL – The Cougars committed 20 attack errors but were still able to get past Park Ridge, 2-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-20), in a NJIC Patriot Division match.

“I’m pretty disappointed,” said Owls coach Tara Kane. “I told the girls at the beginning of the third set that they brought the game way too late in the second set. We won but if we had played the way we know how to play sooner we would have won the second set easily.

“Then the third set we pushed but Cresskill pushed a lot harder. They found our seams and they found our holes and they hit each one of them. They played a great game.”

The Owls led by a couple of points in the early part of the third game, leading by four points on two occasions – 10-6 and 15-11. But the Cougars kept it close and late in the set they took over.

Junior setter Jenna Alvarez distributed 25 assists and also served an ace in Cresskill’s 2-1 victory.
Cresskill sophomore Courtney Madison tied the game, 18-18, with one of her match-high 11 kills and the Cougars took the lead for good, 19-18, on a net violation by the Owls.
