HARRISON 25-25; ST. PETER’S PREP 23-21 (at Harrison): The Blue Tide (36-4) broke tradition after repeating as sectional champs. Rather than celebrating at the pizzeria the team frequents after clinching titles, Harrison went to a school fundraiser at a local Spanish restaurant following its sweep of St. Peter’s (19-9).
“We’re hoping to go back to the pizza place next week,” coach Nick Landy said.
The next step in Harrison’s state-title quest will be to face Central champ East Brunswick in Tuesday’s semifinals.
Senior Jimmy Vega tallied 24 assists and 10 digs in the North 2 final, and Piotr Namiotko spiked 10 kills, including the match winner.
