SPECIAL TO THE RECORD

RANDOLPH – Hawthorne battled Cresskill and Saddle Brook from start to finish at John J. Bauer Memorial Field and won the North 1, Group 1 girls track championship, thanks to Kaitlin Salisbury and Jenna Dyksen.

Salisbury and Dyksen finished first and second in the long jump, with jumps of 18½ feet and 17-6, respectively. The 18 points they earned in that event pushed Hawthorne closer to victory, and then thanks to Salisbury’s first-place finish in the 200 (25.70), the Hawks were able to clinch victory. They finished the meet with 91 points, edging Cresskill’s 89.5 points and Saddle Brook’s 82 points.

Dyksen had a prolific day with three gold medals, winning the high hurdles (15.31), the intermediate hurdles (1:04.10) and the triple jump (36-11). Salisbury also earned medals, also winning the 100 in 12.49.
