Hawthorne Christian High School head coach Kevin Standford was pointing to a .500 record this season and he has happily been sitting with that goal despite injuries.
The Defenders dropped to 8-10 after losses to Palisades Park and Garfield on Thursday and Friday, respectively, but even being around that mark is amazing.

With a shallow bench coming into the season, Hawthorne Christian has been missing some of its starters because of injuries this season.
“Our season has been a little up and down,” said Standford before the 17th game last week. “We have only had our whole team for two of the 16 games this season. I thought we would be hovering around the .500 mark. With these injuries it’s been a testament for our players.”
