NORTH HALEDON — Hawthorne High School sophomore Lindsey Graham did what comes naturally to her, shoot a three.
In the waning moments of last Thursday’s girls high school basketball game, Eastern Christian led by one with the Lady Bears with the ball.
In a scramble, Eastern Christian’s Brooke Van Lenten had the ball, but it squirted out and Graham picked it up.
With the last seconds coming off the clock, the sophomore guard fired a shot and it went in, giving Hawthorne a 42-41 victory over Eastern Christian in the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC) Colonial Division.
“It was definitely a great feeling,” said Graham. “To hit a buzzer-beater on the home court, it feels great.”
Graham works during practice and after practice on her three-point shot. She hit six, three-pointers in the game including the game-winner.
