The Hawthorne High School girls track and field team knew it was not going to win the Passaic County Track and Field championships.

With the likes of big schools like Wayne Valley, Passaic Tech, Wayne Hills and Kennedy, the team knew it was going to real tough. But instead the Lady Bears wanted to make people in the county aware that they have a top track and field team.

“We wanted to go out there and have people say where did Hawthorne come from?,” said senior Jenna Dyksen.

Hawthorne did that as it finished third with 76 points, only behind the winner Wayne Valley and Passaic Tech on May 14 at Wayne Hills High School.
