Hudson-Bergen Invitational returns with Hasbrouck Heights boys tennis claiming title

Hasbrouck Heights earned the most points to capture the Hudson-Bergen Invitational Tournament title on Saturday at Braddock Park in North Bergen.

In the round robin tournament, teams earn one point for each game won. Every player competed in three sets.

Hasbrouck Heights tallied 86 points on the day to win it all, while Bayonne took second with 73. Memorial finished a close third with 69 points, followed by Westwood with 63. A total of six teams entered the field.

Hasbrouck Heights was powered by doubles MVPs senior Luis Ndocaj and junior Ethan Tran. Ndocaj and Tran won 17 games, including victories over Dickinson (6-3) and Union City (6-1).

Bayonne senior Adam Khalil earned singles MVP honors as he dropped just three total games while winning all three of his sets. Khalil won 6-2 against Westwood, 6-0 against Union City and 6-1 against Dickinson.

The Hudson-Bergen Invitational began in the fall of 2017 with the girls, and the tournament expanded to include the boys in 2022. After being rained out the past two seasons, the event made its grand return this weekend.
