Glen Rock HS

For the first time, a pair of athletes shared the Ron Fox Award at the Bergen County Coaches Association All-County dinner Monday night at the Fiesta in Wood-Ridge.

Claiming the honor named for the veteran sportswriter for The Record were Glen Rock senior bowler Jake Rollins and Bergen Catholic senior wrestler Johnny Sebastian. The award goes to the Bergen County athlete(s) who made the biggest impact during the winter season.

Rollins had one of the defining moments of the winter season, rolling a 300 to win the individual state bowling championship in February. He also is The Record Boys Bowler of the Year.

Sebastian became just the sixth Bergen County wrestler to win three state championships when he beat Brearley’s Joe Balboni, 6-4, in overtime. The Ramsey native wrestled for most of the season with a torn labrum in his shoulder, which will require surgery. He will attend Northwestern in the fall.

The pair were selected from a field of 10 nominees. The other finalists were: Ceasar DeJesus of Teaneck, Matt Grassi of Ramapo, Daijon Smith of Lyndhurst, Alex Whelan of Ramsey, Josh Sembrano of Bergen Catholic, James Buser of Mahwah, Luke Annichiarico of Old Tappan and Nick Suriano of Bergen Catholic.
