RUTHERFORD – Many thought that the Rutherford girls volleyball team would take a step back from last season’s success with the graduation of several starters, especially All Bergen County First team player Jessica Rogers. But the Lady Bulldogs made a statement last week with a three-set victory over Glen Rock, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18 last Thursday in a grudge battle at home against two of the top teams in the NJIC Colonial Division.
The victory gave Rutherford an overall mark of 10-3, but is undefeated in the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Colonial Division play. “We’ve really come together as a team,” said Antzoulides. “We just fight back and never give up.”
Along with the victory over Glen Rock, the Lady Bulldogs won a crucial match against Garfield winning in three games, 19-25, 25-22, 25-18, on Sept. 27 on the road in Garfield.
