Friday’s Passaic County tournament at Parkway Lanes also featured the fifth different team champion in the 23-year history of the girls competition. Mary Help (2,172) eclipsed 700 in all three games to finish 235 points clear of the field.

Although the small non-public from North Haledon had produced two Passaic individual bowling champs – including Bryonna Richburg last winter – it had not won a county team title in any other sport since becoming an NJSIAA member in 1996-97.

“The team title means a lot more than winning an individual title,” said Richburg, now a senior. “You all know you were a part of something great.”
