NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Jasmine McDuffie, Manchester Regional, Sr.
The senior scored her 1,000th career point last week. McDuffie finished the week averaging 19.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.3 blocks. She has gotten better each year of her career and this is shaping up to be the best season yet. Manchester Regional is off to a 6-2 start behind the play of McDuffie and Shani Gerald, Camille Arias and Aziza Whitaker.
Nicola Mitarotonda, Becton, Sr., Guard
The guard has been a double-double machine all season, but last week took it to another level. He had 18 points and 21 boards in a 73-58 loss to Paterson Charter, had 24 points and a season-high 22 boards in a 70-54 win over Wallington and closed out the week with a season-high 28 points and 17 rebounds in a 53-43 win over St. Mary (Ruth.). He also had seven assists in the win over Wallington. Mitarotonda has seven double-doubles on the year and five straight.
