Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex in Toms River

Senior Cheyenne Bellerand became the first Emerson High School athlete to earn an Indoor Meet of Champions gold medal. Her winning toss of 43″8″ earned her the State Championship shot put crown. It was also the top throw in the state for the entire indoor season.

She entered the meet as the Group-1 Champion, having tossed  41’7″ to punch her ticket to the SMOC. Her 43’0″ gold medal effort at the Eastern States Championships in New York on February 24th, served notice that she was going to be among the favorites entering the SMOC . In the North 1 Group-1 Sectional she was 2nd with a 39’4.5″ effort , thus showing a steady climb of improvement through the final weeks of the season.

The NJIC congratulates Miss Bellerand and the Emerson HS T&F coaching staff of Nicole Pacciani, Mark Ledgerwood, Trevor Hedges, and Andrea LoBue.
