NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC CONFERENCE

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Briana Andreoli, Hawthorne, Jr.

The junior was amazing this fall, torching defenses for 24 goals as she led Hawthorne to the North West A final. Andreoli came up with her best games in the postseason, starting with a two-goal game in a 3-2 overtime win against Kinnelon. The junior scored the winning goal in extra time. Andreoli followed that up with four scores in a 4-2 win over Whippany Park.

The star forward now has 77 career scores now and is on pace for 100.

Hawthorne (11-1) won its first 11 games of the season before falling against defending Group 1 champion Mountain Lakes in the championship game. Junior Ruby Conroy left her mark with 12 goals and a team-high 10 assists.

TEAM OF THE YEAR: Lyndhurst

Lyndhurst (10-2-2) only gave up eight goals all year and started the season with seven straight shutouts. Senior Maggie Fodera is committed to Bryant for track, but she’s also one of the top defenders in the state. The tall center back used her height and her speed to close down opposing forwards and that’s a big reason why Lyndhurst had 10 shutouts in 2020.

Senior midfielders Deirdre Kearns and Joelle Montillo stepped up and took over as the leaders on offense. Northeastern commit Kaydee Yallo came back into the lineup late in the year and had some big goals, including the game-winner against Pascack Hills in the regional semis.

Lyndhurst fell short against Ramsey in the North East C final.

COACH OF THE YEAR: Dylan Evans, Park Ridge

Park Ridge (11-1) was sensational on its way to the North East A final.

No one could figure out how to beat this team until Park Ridge ran into Group 1 power Glen Ridge. Junior Ella Madden was on fire this year and came through with 24 goals. Junior Kerry Perez added 14 goals and 12 assists, while Abigayle Molinari had a team-high 13 assists.

Park Ridge won every game by at least two goals until it lost in the regional final. The Owls had their hands full against Glen Ridge, but that game was even at the end of the first half.

COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Kaydee Yallo, Lyndhurst, Sr.

The Northeastern commit played the first few games of this season, but then was sidelined for a month due to injury. That injury was potentially going to be season-ending, but Yallo was able to play through the pain and added a goal and two assists in the final four games once she returned. That goal vs. Pascack Hills was big, but Yallo also had an assist in a tie with Nutley.

Last year, Yallo was one of the top forwards in Group 2, with 17 goals and five assists.

OTHER NOTABLE STORYLINES

Glen Rock (8-7-1) made an impressive run to a regional final in 2020. Seniors Marni Flack, Rylie Duncan, Aly Novick, Lauren Patasnik and Yuki Shibuya all made big plays along the way.
