It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time to once again list the Players of the Week from all 15 conferences.
Joao Azuma, Glen Rock, Fr.
Glen Rock played three games last week and won them all. Azuma had a hot hand and hit the scoresheet in all three games. The freshman scored once in each victory over Leonia, Dwight-Morrow and Saddle Brook. He also had an assist in the third game and he’s up to 12 points this season.
Brayden Blanken, Emerson Boro, Sr.
Emerson Boro dropped its first game of the week against Harrison but rebounded with wins over Waldwick and North Arlington. Blanken had eight saves in the loss and combined for 15 more in the two wins. In all, he allowed three goals on 26 shots.
Luke Miceli, Pompton Lakes, Jr.
Miceli helped guide Pompton Lakes to two wins last week. He scored against Eastern Christian and Park Ridge. He’s now matched career highs with three goals and three assists this season.
Robert Mmereole, Weehawken, So.
Weehawken fell to Lodi but turned around and topped Wood-Ridge and Snyder. The wins were memorable for Mmereole. He scored the first two goals of his career in the 4-1 win over Wood-Ridge. The next day, he scored again in a 1-0 win over Snyder.
Eduard Mustafai, Manchester Regional, Sr.
Manchester Regional went 1-1-1 in three games last week. Mustafai had a big performance in the 6-1 win over Hawthorne Christian. He scored once and added three assists. He’s now up to eight assists on the season after getting two more on Monday.
Jose Torres, Palisades Park, Jr.
The winning streak stretched to five after Palisades Park defeated college Achieve Paterson and Paramus Catholic last week. He recorded two total goals and added an assist across the two wins. He’s already doubled his previous career high in goals.
Nicholas Ventrella, Butler, Jr.
Ventrella helped Butler earn a tie and a win in three games last week and he hit a milestone in the process. He posted clean sheets against Manchester Regional and Ridgefield, combining for 24 saves. He then had 11 saves in a loss to Madison. The 35 total stops helped him eclipse 300 for his career.
Arkadiusz Zuber, Elmwood Park, Jr.
Zuber helped Elmwood Park win both of its games last week against Nutley and Rutherford. The junior had an assist in the 3-2 win over Nutley. He then added a goal and an assist against Rutherford two days later.
