Piotr Partyla of Lyndhurst is one of the state’s most versatile players and returns for 2019.

Lyndhurst got its revenge — and now it is playoff bound.

One year after falling to New Milford in double-overtime, losing out on a potential NJIC Liberty Division title in the process, the Golden Bears topped the Knights, 13-6, behind a 200-yard, 2-touchdown performance from senior RB Piotr Partyla.

The win, clinched by a game-sealing interception from Isaiah De La Cruz, marked Lyndhurst’s first victory over New Milford in 15 years. Lyndhurst had been 0-7 against New Milford since its last win in 2004.

DeSOSA GOES FOR SEVEN: There was no stopping Harrison quarterback Mateo DeSosa. The senior quarterback accounted for seven touchdowns Friday night, leading Harrison to a 46-35 victory over Secaucus in a showdown between two of the NJIC’s Hudson County squads. DeSosa threw four touchdowns and ran for three more. GAME STORY

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS STILL HERE: You’d have been wrong to dismiss Hasbrouck Heights as a contender after its season-opening loss to Cresskill. The Aviators appear to rounding into form, especially after slowing down offensive power Butler on Friday in a 25-20 win. FULL STORY HERE

WALDWICK/MIDLAND PARK STAYS UNBEATEN: Waldwick/Midland Park handled defending division champion Rutherford, 42-6, behind two touchdown runs from Shawn Grigsby. Waldwick/Midland Park will now challenge for a division title, and spot in the NJIC playoffs, when it meets Garfield on Oct. 18.
