Weekly Round Up / May 12th – 18th
BASEBALL:
Weehawken HS: Defeated Bayonne HS by a score of 8-2 and advanced to the Championship game of the Hudson County Tournament. The Indians lost to St. Peter’s Prep by a score of 2-0.
GOLF:
Hawthorne HS: shot a team score of 432 at the NJIC Tournament on 5/6/13 at Valley Brook Golf Club and improved on that score by shooting a 402 at the Passaic County Tournament on 5/15/13 held on the Red Course of Preakness Valley. At each tournament, Hawthorne was led by Greg Fales (Sr.) who shot 98 at the NJIC Tournament and a 91 at the County Tournament.
TENNIS:
Secaucus HS: Junior captain 3rd singles tennis player Mark German from Secaucus H.S. was a finalist in the Hudson County Individual singles tournament at Lincoln Part in Jersey City.
SOFTBALL:
Secaucus HS: Won the Hudson County Championship, defeating North Bergen 4-2. (See story on home page of web site.) Danielle Roesing is 20-6 with 214 strikeouts this season, ERA of .90 and a batting average of .346. Sophomore Julia McClure is batting .516 with 50 hits, 31 RBI’s, 35 runs scored and 20 stolen bases; Sophomore Kendall Caruso is batting .489 with 46 Hits, 37 runs scored and 32 RBI’s. The 2 sophomores are leading the team in most offensive categories. Team record is now 20-6.
Weehawken HS: Emily Verdon -pitched a no hitter against Bogota for the 7th win of the season for the Indians.This was her first career no hitter.
TRACK & FIELD:

In the Bergen County Championships, three NJIC schools captured titles. Hasbrouck Heights (119 points) won the Boys C-Division, Park Ridge (92.5 points) captured the Boys D-Division, and Emerson HS (73 points) took home the Girls D-Division trophy. VOLLEYBALL:
Harrison HS upset #9 state ranked St. Peter’s Prep in the semi-finals, before bowing to Bayonne HS(25-19, 25-15 ) in the Championship match.
