Weekly Round Up /April 29 through May 4th

 

BASEBALL:

New Milford HS

Saddle Brook 8-1 win – Kevin Soriano 6 IP, 5 hits, 7K.  Sawyer Coughlin  3-3;  2R, RBI. Robert Bowers  2-3; 2RBI. Elijah Ortiz  2-4;  2B, 2RBI.
Leonia 11-5 win – Sean Ryan 5 IP in win. Elijah Ortiz: 3-3;  3RBI, R.  Joe Victory  2-3; 3RBI, R.  Sawyer Coughlin 3RBI. Brendan O’Brien 2RBI.
Harrison 5-4 win – Connor Swanson: 2 out go ahead 2B hit in the top of the 6th inning.
Wallington 11-5 win- Tim Scheeck got his first Varsity win on the mound. Pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings, striking out nine.

GOLF:

Hawthorne HS

 The squad shot its season best score on Thursday 5/2 at Orchard Hills Golf Club.  Despite being defeated by Leonia 190-193, Hawthorne was lead by Nick Miller who shot a 44 (personal best), Kevin Branagh who shot a 46 (personal best) and Greg Fales who shot 49.

 

SOFTBALL:

Eastern Christian HS:

Ashley Manger  has 113 strikeouts in 84 Innings pitched.

Hawthorne HS

Rachael Milbrook  – batted .333 for the week with 1 RBI against Elmwood Park. Mallory Noordeloos  – batted .444 for the week with 2 RBI’s against Elmwood Park and 1 RBI against Butler.  Kimberly Mulvey  – went 3-3 against Butler with 1 RBI and 1 triple.  Megan Matthews  – threw a 2-hitter against Elmwood Park.

Weehawken HS     

Emily Verdon  – Has led her team to two wins on the season avg 8 K’s a game. She has recorded 81K’s this year in the circle so far this season. Danielle Devaney – batted .560 in two games with 2 triples and 3 RBI’s.

 

TENNIS:

 Saddle River Day School

The Rebel netmen added five more victories (Waldwick, Queen of Peace, Emerson, Park Ridge and Midland Park) to raise their record to 11-1. The most notable match against Waldwick was a showdown at 1st singles between two undefeated players; Saddle River Day’s Daniel Wright and Waldwick’s Nick Bradley.  This was an epic match lasting more than two hours, which Bradley won in three sets (6-3, 0-6, 6-3).  Both players are ranked nationally and this is a likely prelude to the Bergen County singles championship. Freshman Tom Wright –  2nd singles upped his record to 11-0 after two more dominating wins. He has given up only three games in eleven matches and is seeded first in this weeks Bergen County tournament.

TRACK & FIELD:

Cresskill HS

Tania Pabon won the discus throw at the County Seat Invitational with a 128’7″ performance. It is the best North Jersey throw in five years and ninth best in Bergen County history.

Secaucus HS

Keeneth Ross placed 2nd in the 400m at the Ironman Invitational in a school record time of 49.71. Carleisha Forteau placed 3rd in the 400m at the Ironman competition in a school record 57.73

Summer Kocerha (86’6″) and Alexis Anderson (80’10”)  broke their ownschool record  in the javelin relay at the Long Branch  Relays with a combined 167″4″ for 5th place. Ryan Rand (126’9″) and TIm Charles  (149’2″) threw  a combined 275 ’11”  in javelin relay for 4th fourth place at Long Branch Relays.
