NORTH ARLINGTON – The North Arlington golf team has been coming out strong, from the tee to the green, so far this season.
As of last week, the Viking duffers were undefeated at 6-0, but they have their strongest challenge on Tuesday against defending NJIC Division 1 champions, Glen Rock, at Overpeck Park. “Glen Rock is still the big-time favorite as the team to beat in our league,” said North Arlington head coach Dan Farinola.
Along with the league challenge, North Arlington is looking to make it three years in a row of qualifying for the state tournament.
The Vikings’ success this season, especially with a few of their top golfers graduating from last season, has even surprised Farinola.
“The team is definitely performing better than I expected,” pointed out Farinola. “Through our first six games, we are averaging 200 as a team, which is lower than I thought we would be this early in the season. We graduated two very good golfers from last year’s starting lineup, including last year’s best average (Darian Nogueras).”
