Here are the Players of the Week from the NJIC based on games from Monday, Sept. 14 through Sunday, Sept. 20.
Stephen Alpar, New Milford, Jr.
New Milford took home two wins in three games last week. Alpar had a hot hand with two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Hawthorne Christian. He then had another goal in a loss to Cresskill. He’s already set a new career-high with four goals.
Brandon Betances, Saddle Brook, Sr.
Betances scored twice in a 3-2 overtime win against Manchester Regional. He also had a goal and an assist two days earlier against Butler in a 2-0 win. His week closed with an assist in a 3-1 loss to Fair Lawn.
Elidon Dardha, Lodi, Sr.
Dardha can score in bunches and he’s done so on a few occasions this year. He struck twice in a key 4-3 win over Secaucus, his third multi-goal game of the season. He helped Lodi win both of its games last week.
Ryan Dauble, Emerson Boro, Sr.
Emerson Boro went 2-0-1 last week and Dauble was a big part of that. He combined for five goals against Garfield, Park Ridge and Pascack Valley. He also had three assists. He scored or assisted on eight of the team’s 13 goals.
Andrew Kim, Glen Rock, Sr.
Glen Rock stretched its winning streak to five with wins over Wallington, Pompton Lakes and Fair Lawn last week. Kim scored in all three games, combining for four total goals and three assists. Entering this season, he had six career goals. He’s already up to seven.
Dylan Krstevski, Elmwood Park, Sr.
Elmwood Park put up 10 goals across three games against Park Ridge, Harrison and Mahwah last week. Krstevski was a force in all three battles. He scored a pair of goals twice, scored again in a loss to Mahwah. In all, he had five goals and one assist in the three games.
Erdit Mani, Hasbrouck Heights, Jr.
Hasbrouck Heights continues to put up the wins and swept a three-game week. He scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Lyndhurst and then combined for three more tallies against Wood-Ridge and Fort Lee. That last goal gave him seven on the season, which is a new career high.
Evan Salge, Midland Park, Jr.
Salge helped guide Midland Park to two wins in as many games last week. He kept Hawthorne at bay in a 3-0 victory. He buried a couple of key goals, including a game-winner, against Saddle River Day two days later.
Lucas Tecza, Rutherford, Sr.
Rutherford had its best week of the season with a tie and two wins. Tecza stepped up big in Saturday’s win over West Milford. He scored twice in a 3-2 victory.
Nico Zagorski, Becton, Jr.
Zagorski, like his brother, has been key to Becton’s success this season. The junior picked up two assists in a 3-2 win over Lyndhurst. Two days later, he had the only goal in a big 1-0 win over Kearny.
