► St. Mary, which opened its season a week late, followed a three-game losing streak with a four-game winning streak. It culminated Monday with a 12-0 victory over North Arlington, in which Kai Giro tossed a five-inning no-hitter. Giro walked three and struck out 12 while throwing 82 pitches.During the streak, the Gaels outscored opponents, 53-1. Five players batted .500 or better, led by junior Will Wallentine at .625 (15-for-24).

► Hasbrouck Heights went 4-0 last week to climb to 7-2, and senior P/3B Connor Friedel led the way by earning two wins. He struck out six in 5⅓ innings and drove in the winning run in the 10th inning of a 5-4 victory over Wood-Ridge. He also struck out four in five innings of a 13-2 win over Lyndhurst and batted .400 (4-for-10)

► Park Ridge opened May with four wins in five games. Senior Brendan Hughes was 11-for-16 with two homers, seven RBI and six runs last week, and he raised his average to .548. Hughes struck out 12 and did not allow an earned run in six innings of a 9-4 win over Midland Park.Junior Matt Manning was 5-for-10 with six runs and an RBI last week and raised his average to .360 and his on-base percentage to .590. Senior Jimmy Brazofsky is hitting .406 with three extra-base hits and nine RBI

► Beau Rottmann of Dwight-Englewood had a productive week on the mound and in the leadoff spot. He threw a one-hitter in a 12-0 victory over Saddle Brook/Bogota to raise his record to 3-0. For the week, the senior was 3-for-8 with three steals and four RBI. Over 15 innings pitched, he has a 1.37 ERA and 27 strikeouts.
