Pompton Lakes coach Matthew Hales collected his 100th victory on Thursday as his team defeated Park Ridge, 4-1, in Pompton Lakes.
“Reaching my 100th win coaching for the Pompton Lakes and doing it with the wonderful kids the district has produced is what makes this moment special for me,” said Hales. “Throughout my eight-plus years coaching at the varsity level I have had quality kid after quality kid and all of them have played a part in these victories. I am looking forward to the future and continuing to be a part of the Cardinal Athletics community.”
Richie Osborne pulled out a thriller at first singles during the win, coming out on top after three sets. Osborne lost the first set, but responded in the next two to claim a 6-7 (8-10) , 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) decision.
