Around the courts
► Elmwood Park tied for first place in the NJIC Division 6, marking the first time the program has finished atop its league since 1979-80 (according to the gym banners). The Crusaders avenged their lone divisional loss to Saddle Brook in the final week, and their top scorers are all underclass: Juniors Jaylene Ferrer (18.1 points per game) and Nya Duran (9.8) and sophomore Arlenny Medina-Tavares (11.1).
► Nearly a dozen schools managed to get in 14 games, but through circumstances often beyond their control, could not get to 15. Those teams included: Butler (1-13), Cliffside Park (4-10), Eastside (11-3), Elmwood Park (10-4), Harrison (1-13), Hasbrouck Heights (11-3), Immaculate Heart (11-3), Paramus Catholic (9-5), Passaic Tech (9-5), Passaic Valley (5-9) and River Dell (11-3).
