RUTHERFORD – Rutherford’s boys basketball team did not win its third game until late in the 2013-14 season.

The Bulldogs this season reached that mark very early on as they won their third game by the end of 2014, defeating Hasbrouck Heights, 61-60, on Dec. 30 to win the Bruce Bartlett Memorial Holiday Tournament at Lyndhurst High School.Rutherford head coach Nick DeBari said that it is the experience of last year that is paying off in 2014-15. “One of the big differences is that they are a year older and a year stronger,” said DeBari whose team raised its record to 3-2.

Rutherford held off a furious comeback by Hasbrouck Heights in the last 90 seconds to preserve the victory.
