Boys Basketball Players of the Week

Andrew Del Rey, Waldwick, Jr., G

Del Ray has been on an insane tear in the past week. He caught everyone’s attention with 48 points in a win over Cresskill and then wowed with 50 points in a victory against Midland Park. Del Ray has three games this season where he’s scored 40 points or more. The junior guard is averaging 32 points per game for Waldwick. In the last three years, he’s connected on 203 shots from 3-point range. He’s one of the best deep-ball shooters in New Jersey.

JT Graham, Midland Park, Jr., G

The 6-foot-1 guard is another big-time scorer. Graham is averaging 24.7 points per game for Midland Park and just had 34 points in a showdown with Del Ray and Waldwick. The junior has scored at least 20 points in his last seven games. Graham is closing in on his 1,000th career point and if he keeps this up, the junior will get there by the end of the week.

Luis Placido, New Milford, Sr., G

Placido is hitting his stride right now for New Milford. The senior guard has at least 20 points in each of his last four games. That includes a 31-point effort in a win over Leonia. Placido is averaging 21.6 points per game for New Miflord so far this season. The senior was part of a team that won the second divisional title in program history last year. If New Milford is going to have that same success this season, it will lean on the play of Placido down the stretch.
