NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC CONFERENCE FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF WEEK #2

Jonathan Palsi, Becton, Jr., QB

Palsi was influential in Becton’s 30-7 win over Lodi last Friday. The junior quarterback completed 8 of his 15 passes for 93 yards, but did the most damage with his legs, carrying the ball 14 times for 136 yards and three touchdowns.

Christian Ramirez, Weehawken, Jr., QB

Ramirez missed all of last season, but made his return to the gridiron in style for Weehawken in its 32-25 win over Manchester Regional. The junior compiled 184 yards and four touchdowns on 9-of-12 passing to pair with eight rushes for 77 yards in the victory. Weehawken went 8-1 last year without Ramirez, so could something even more special be in store in 2023?

Jesse Schratz, Elmwood Park, So., RB/LB

After two measuring stick games to begin the season, Elmwood Park got in the win column in Week 2 via a 41-12 thumping of Palisades Park behind a huge rushing effort from Schratz. The sophomore delivered 174 yards and two scores on just 12 carries.
