Antonio DeCarlo, Rutherford, Sr., 157
DeCarlo went an impressive 6-0 with a gold-medal showing at the Kearny Holiday Tournament. DeCarlo defeated Union City’s Bill Romero by 12-11 decision after pinning Point Pleasant Beach’s Danny Neal in the first round (2:20), Notre Dame’s Andrew Usmiani in the quarterfinals, and then Fort Lee’s Ryan Kim in the semifinals. DeCarlo won by fall over Passaic’s Peter Rodriguez (1:09) and Saddle Brook’s Jayden Estrada (0:44) in duals earlier in the week.
Stelios Psarianos, New Milford, Fr., 106
Psarianos and Gio Giardina of Waldwick-Midland Park were the two NJIC kids to win titles at the Cutter Classic at Fair Lawn on Saturday. Psarianos collected the 106-pound crown with a 6-0 decision over Fair Lawn’s Tommy Perrota after a 10-0 major decision over Elmwood Park’s Logan Biziak in the quarterfinals and a 7-3 decision over Indian Hills’ Nick Pelligrini in the semifinals. Psarianos also won by 13-3 major decision over Dumont’s James Sutera in a dual on Wednesday.
