North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Players of the Week
Giana Yaniero, Rutherford, Sr.
A 2023 All-State player and St. Peter’s commit, Yaniero has been on a roll in the circle for the Bulldogs. She’s tossed 16 innings across the team’s first three games and has three double digit strikeout outings to show for it. She struck out 13 in back to back games against Becton and Leonia and had 11 punchouts in a four inning perfect game against Harrison. She’s also 6-for-10 at the dish with five RBI and a run scored and now has 801 career strikeouts as she chases 1,000.
Alexandra Monchino, Hasbrouck Heights, Sr.
The Aviators are 4-0 to begin 2025 and have scored 11-plus runs in all four games, with Monchino helping to pace the offense. She has four straight multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 game with four runs and an RBI against Cliffside Park. She’s got 10 hits, 10 runs and seven RBI so far as well as three triples and a double plus two stolen bases.
