NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC CONFERENCE

SEASON IN REVIEW, 2025

PLAYER OF THE YEAR:

Ian Batra

Batra claimed the Hudson County Individual Tournament title this spring, and he made another deep run at the state singles tournament. He is the NJIC Player of the Year for 2025.

Batra was undefeated and dropped just one total game in all of his matches played heading into the state singles tournament.

The senior then reached the semifinals before being edged in a 10-point tiebreaker by Vincenzo Caruso. Batra will next head off to nearby Stevens Institute of Technology in the fall.

COACH OF THE YEAR:

Suzanne Caines

Hasbrouck Heights reached new heights this season and it was all led by Suzanne Caines.

Caines earns the Coach of the Year honor thanks to a first-place finish in the division from Hasbrouck Heights.

Hasbrouck Heights also own the best win percentage in the NJIC with a 14-3 record. Last season, Hasbrouck Heights was third in the Meadowlands Division with a 12-6 overall record and 5-4 in the division.

It also helps that Hasbrouck Heights was one of three team to remain perfect against its division, joining Glen Rock and Dwight-Englewood.

TEAM OF THE YEAR:

Dwight-Englewood

Dwight-Englewood recorded the most wins out of any team in the NJIC and also earns the honor of Team of the Year.

At 17-5, Dwight-Englewood was one of three teams in the NJIC to remain perfect against its division. Of those three teams, including Glen Rock and Hasbrouck Heights, Dwight-Englewood totaled the most divisional wins with 13.

Dwight-Englewood also faced stiff competition outside of the division, facing teams like Delbarton, Montclair Kimberley, Tenafly and Ridgewood.

Elsewhere, the Bulldogs took standout wins over Park Ridge, Wayne Hills and Saddle River Day.
