I know. I know.
The Bergen and Passaic County track and field championships have just ended and here I am ranking North Jersey track and field teams as a result of the league championships a week before.
Credit (or blame as you wish) the closely condensed spring track season for the delay. Just as it seems the season is only hitting the mid-point, the state sectionals are already upon us.
And to make matters worse, at least on the boys side, after the clear number one team, Demarest, the chaotic nature of the rain-soaked Bergen and Passaic Relays resulted in wholesale withdrawals from some events, jumbling the rankings even more.
That’s why these are more like current snapshots and not definitive finished products.
Only the final rankings, to be published after the state Group championships in June will reflect the best teams of the year in North Jersey.
For what’s it’s worth and hopefully to generate interest, here are one man’s rankings after the league meets. (Rankings after County Relays are in parentheses).
