All-State Second Team Boys Volleyball
Ylan Tapper, Garfield, Jr.
Stats: 366 kills, 180 digs, 51 aces
Tapper burst out on to the scene last season as a sophomore with 154 kills but exploded as a junior this year with 366 kills. That number was the second most in the state as the junior made opposing defenses sit back and try to defend whenever the ball was set to him. Of the 30 games that Garfield wound up playing this season, there were just six when Tapper finished with a single-digit number of kills. With still one more season to play and a career 522 kills, it’ll be fun to watch how many more kills Tapper will be able to rack up as he tries to lead Garfield back to a state final.
