Four undefeated girls volleyball teams remain in North Jersey. All are ranked in the Top 20, and the team with the most wins on the season got its coach to a milestone late last week.
Rutherford won a battle of unbeatens with St. Mary on Friday, 25-22, 25-19, to give coach Helen Antzoulides her 500th career victory. Antzoulides is in her 18th season with the Bulldogs after 12 at the now-closed Paterson Catholic, and her career record after the team’s 13th win of 2021 stood at 500-274 (.646 winning percentage).
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs earned the No. 12 seed in the Bergen County Tournament. So deep is the field that 23 qualifiers received consideration for this week’s Top 20.
