Wrestling: New No. 1 in North Jersey team rankings, plus latest individual rankings

A wild dual meet that came down to criteria prompted another change atop the North Jersey wrestling team rankings.

One week after losing the No. 1 spot, St. Joseph reclaimed it from Bergen Catholic by defeating the Crusaders, 34-33, on Saturday on most bouts won.

The victory in Oradell came without four state qualifiers, including two-time champion Adrian DeJesus and 2023 finalist Anthony Harris.

Another substantial move in the rankings came from New Milford, which climbed six spots to No. 10 with down-to-the-wire wins over Pompton Lakes and Ramapo.

Number 22 Manchester and No. 23 Northern Highlands joined the rankings down below.

Some major shuffling transpired in the individual rankings as well with 12 wrestlers making their first appearance, including two who shot up to No. 1. Paramus Catholic’s Seach Hibler (144) and Harris (215) both lead their respective weight classes after sitting out the opening weeks due to transfer rules.
