PARAMUS — Pompton Lakes’ 145-pounder Chris Grecco set the school record for victories on Friday night in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Region 1 wrestling tournament. The senior topped Jefferson’s Robert Ferucci, 9-6, for his 125th career win.
The victory edged him past Bob Matthews and Evan Lodder who shared the previous record at 124 wins. Grecco, the top seed, improved to 36-3 this season and will meet Mahwah’s Travis Arata in Saturday’s semifinal. Arata, the fifth seed, earned a 5-3 decision over No. 4 Amichai Ohring of Demarest.
