Gabe Jang, Leonia-Palisades Park, Jr., 285
For the second year in a row, Jang made a deep run in the county tournament. Last year, the junior heavyweight reached the semifinals. On Sunday, Jang punched a ticket to the final where he lost by fall to Bergen Catholic senior and two-time state medalist Benji Shue, who pinned his way in every first period on his way to gold. Jang pinned and teched himself into the final for a record of 4-1 on the weekend in Garfield. He also had two pins in a pair of duals this past week for a 6-1 week.
Devin Ryan, New Milford, Sr., 126
The Army commit won his second county title on Sunday with a 21-2 technical fall (2:31) over Old Tappan senior Jonathan Rotolo. Ryan won by fall in the Round of 32, tech fall in the Round of 16, tech fall in the quarterfinals, and by major decision in the semifinals. He also went 2-0 in duals this past week to complete a 7-0 stretch. Ryan won at the event as a 113-pounder as a sophomore.
